ilifeportrait.jpg Welcome to my Blog
Hi There.... my name is Karl with a K.. and I am a wedding photographer from Nottingham UK who specializes in capturing relaxed portraits, amazing details and real moments in time, oh and don't forget the romance.... we do all this for some of the coolest brides and grooms on the planet.
This Blog is an archive of my personal and professional life, it features images from the weddings i shoot, the portraits i photograph and the friends and family that mean so much to me. It is in essence my own personnel photo album combined with an info source for my current and potential clients. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as i enjoy creating it...to view the iLife website, Nottingham Wedding Photographers

Today has been a day just like any other day, full of dis and dat, we have been pretty solid here at the studio for a while now 13 wedding albums designed in 8 days, shoots, processing, printing framing, you name it we seem to be doing it all at the moment, also preping for a exhibition we have been invited to early next year in London.... so big apologies for lack of post recently, its not for lack of content but lack of time.... below is an image form a shoot we did this past weekend , another new model Aymi came up from worcester for her 1st ever photoshoot, fab girl fab shoot only one you may ask, well like i said before, my work keeps getting ripped off so being a bit OCD with protecting it im afraid. For those who want the Tech, shot with 5 Broncolor heads with various light mod's fitted all powered with power packs, shot on Nikon D3x

This fab new model is Michaela, it was her 1st pro shoot and she did a great job, We also used our new Broncolor Scoro A4s for the shoot which is absolutely amazing, exceeding all expectations, if costs allow then all you pro's out there should have one of these, it is next generation of studio generator packs and nothing else on the market comes anywhere close, i will post a small review soon so keep posted, Thanks to Michaela for such a Fab effort and thanks to Broncolor for you support and long may it continue.

Hi Karl. Discovered your site today. Amazing photographs! All of them. I have only started out 9 months ago so still on steep learning curve. Do you ever run 1 on 1 training course in your studio?
Regards
Steve

We had the pleasure of shooting a few promo pics and possible album cover for up-coming band The Tastebuds, we had a complete blast creating these images and thanks to all the band for your patience.

As promised, more pics and more blog posts, taken from a recent shoot, idea to show motion and flow, for the tech heads, cloth backdrop, 2 light setup which were stacked to create a bank of light on camera left, shot on my trusty Nikon D3x.

What a fab venue this old train scrap yard is, this is the second shoot i have done there recently with one of my favorite models Stephanie, she may be young but she is a star in the making, for those that are waiting for some more wedding work, it will be here soon, just so much happening at moment not finding enough time to put new work up very often.

These few images were part of a first model portfolio shoot i did for becky, she did pretty well for her first shoot, took direction well and mixed it up a bit her self, these were 3 of those such shots and for a first timer to have the confidence to break away from direction was pretty cool, looking forward to our next shoot becks

These are a few images taken on a recent Model Portfolio shoot, the shoot was Stephs first pro shoot and she did an amazing job, i could have put 20 -30 images on here but i am putting these few here just to answer a few questions i had recently from a couple of photographers about the placement of hands and arms in my images, look and learn and take control of everything, not by posing your model like a mannequin but give direction and keep giving it until all is correct but keep shooting or shoot will go stale. hope this answers your questions guys....perfection is hard to achieve but when you take control of all elements of your shoot it will be easier to achieve but having complete control comes with experience...

Lovely shots Karl, I love the backlit one with her being blown from behind, amazing! Really like the penultimate shot here great placing of the hands all element draw your eyes to hers, great soft light. I really like the purple light straying across the background too which adds nice depth. Keep up the good work and congrats on those recent awards! - Steve

Spring is in the air, the grass is starting to grow again, the bulbs are on there way and birds morning chorus has started (yes i am up at 4.30am to hear it).
The last week has been great and a big thankyou to all the emails and facebook chatter with regards to Congrats for all the award wins last week at the Bipp awards, all gratefully received and it means a lot to know so many like and admire my work, i have had numerous requests from fellow photographers who would like help with their photographic training which would be an honor and a privledge.
I am a little behind on processing at the moment with all the renovations at the studio which are now thankfully complete. Below is are a few  shots from a recent model shoot. Normal blog posts will resume very soon so keep checking back for more..

For the photogs out there, this was a 3 light setup, camera was the awesome Nikon D3x, processed in CS4 to my own special recipe.
